Off to Australia in 2018 \u2600\ufe0f<\/span>\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2>\n
Australia. Australia has always been a dream for me. As a child, I used to watch animal documentaries on Animal Planet \ud83d\udcfa. <\/div>
\"When I grow up, I'll become a wildlife researcher \ud83d\ude0c!\"<\/i><\/div>
Well, that didn't quite work out \ud83d\ude04. But still, I managed to make it to the other end of the world & experience incredible adventures on my journeys.<\/div>
Many people know that it's not so easy to just take a trip to Australia. If you're lucky, you might get maybe 3 weeks of vacation in a row \ud83d\ude12. That sucks, right? But that's somehow life & you just have to accept it. NO. I don't have to! A dream should eventually come true & why not make the most of it \ud83e\udd14? After considering 1000 different options, and watching 1000 YouTube videos of various travelers, I finally decided to do a Work & Travel. Well, in any case, this decision was one of the best and has completely turned my life upside down to this day. \ud83d\ude43<\/div>

As I told you in my Thailand blog post, initially, I traveled around with my travel buddy (and now good friend) Jessi \ud83e\udd70. Our first stop was Melbourne. One thing I really don't miss is jet lag \u2620\ufe0f! This time we had real trouble falling asleep in the evening, but you should always make the best of it. So, we immediately bought a bottle of champagne & a few beers. Of course, we didn't drink it in the hostel room. Or did we? \ud83d\ude02 <\/div>

Melbourne is one of the largest cities in Australia and is the capital of the state of Victoria. We stayed in the suburb of St. Kilda and visited the St. Kilda Botanical Garden & some sights, like Luna Park. But the absolute coolest thing was that at the end of St. Kilda Pier, we could see penguins among the rocks \ud83d\udc27! How cute is that??? \ud83e\udd29<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Apollo \u2013 Our Ride \ud83d\ude99\ud83d\udd25<\/span>.<\/h2>\n
After just one week, we decided to buy a car \ud83d\ude4c. We got our Apollo for an incredibly good price, only paying 4200 dollars (around 2600 euros at the time). We were a bit lucky because the sellers were backpackers who had to fly to Thailand the next day. \ud83c\udf40 An absolutely great car... It had everything a backpacker could wish for. There was a rooftop tent on top, we had plenty of space for all our stuff, lots of camping gear, and if we were ever too lazy to set up the tent, there was even the option to sleep in the car. I still mourn our beautiful Apollo... \ud83d\ude22 More on that later... \ud83d\ude2a<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

We didn't waste any time & got our car ready to go. The registration of the car went quickly & smoothly. Then we drove along the Great Ocean Road. One of my favorite routes in Australia and highly recommended!! \u2764\ufe0f At the 12 Apostles, we almost got blown away, it was so windy \ud83d\ude04 & in the parking lot, we saw a fox \ud83e\udd8a That was cool!<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Apollo Bay<\/span>\ud83d\ude0e\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2>\n
This place is an absolute must-see! \ud83d\ude0d I've never seen such baby-blue water before!!! \ud83e\udd29\ud83d\udca6 In Apollo Bay, we found friends and even started our first job as cleaners. Our task was to do the laundry, iron, and clean the rooms. What a tough job! Believe me! Anyone who has never worked as a proper cleaner can hardly imagine it. After just 4 days, my fingernails were split about 4 times. Everything hurt. My back... My hands... Terrible! \ud83d\ude29 As if that wasn't enough, we also had a really peculiar boss. He liked to hold someone's hand when he wanted to show something. Okay?? And he even wanted to happily hop around the place. We'll never forget the shrill voice when he called out \"It\u2019s Tea \u2013 Time\" at break time. Well, it was time to go. \ud83d\ude01 Definitely. But one thing we learned: Cleaners really deserve respect (and tips \ud83d\ude05)! <\/div>

Except for a fallen tree on the road, we never really had any problems on our journey. Oops, I almost forgot \ud83d\ude33. When we started driving and had only been on the road for about an hour, a kangaroo suddenly jumped out of the bushes \u2013 right onto the car! \ud83d\ude22 \"That's a great start,\" I thought at that time. My heart was pounding like crazy \ud83d\ude27. Luckily, I wasn't driving too fast (about 50 km\/h) & the cute kangaroo survived the impact. At first, it lay briefly on the ground, but when we got out, it hopped off into the wild. \ud83e\udd98 You can probably imagine now how scared I was that another one might jump out of the bushes. And yes... my fears were confirmed. It wasn't the only kangaroo that crossed our paths. <\/div>
Good to know: Kangaroos are really everywhere & they like to hop across the roads! <\/i>Some backpackers told me that they didn't see a single one on their travels. How is that possible? I still wonder... \ud83d\ude04 Probably they were too often trapped in the spell of the big cities. Oh, when you're in Apollo Bay \u2013 don't forget to visit the Eucalyptus Forest!! There you can see looooots of koalas \ud83d\udc28. At lunchtime, one was hanging about 2 meters above us in a tree. \ud83c\udf33 Unbelievable...<\/div>

Towards Adelaide \ud83d\ude99<\/span>\ud83d\ude99<\/h2>\n
On the way to Adelaide, we saw beautiful, deserted beaches \ud83c\udfd6. The sand looked like powdered sugar at times, and sometimes it was pitch black. The sea was once again baby-blue. That's exactly how I always imagined the beaches in Australia! And believe me \u2013 I've been disappointed before! Almost everything looks more enchanting on Google images than in reality. But one thing I can say: In Australia & New Zealand, it's even more beautiful in reality! \ud83e\udd70 \ud83e\udd70<\/b><\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

We continued on to Warrnambool, where we rode along the beach for the first time. We were able to park our car here at a hostel in the garden & only had to pay half. \ud83e\udd11 On another day, we visited the Grampians National Park (highly recommended!) & went for a beautiful hike. \ud83e\udd7e\u2764\ufe0f<\/div>

The Last Stop \ud83d\udc27<\/span> \ud83d\udc27<\/h2>\n
Another highlight was the Hot Springs in Mornington Peninsula \u2668! The hot springs are located right in the middle of nature \ud83c\udf3f& one pool was even up on the mountain, with an insanely great view! As we continued on to Phillip Island, we saw a penguin parade for the first time \ud83d\udc27. In total, 1904 little penguins waddled from the sea to their nests. It was super cute \ud83d\ude0d. The penguins walk in a line and occasionally one falls over. You can imagine it a bit like the old Domino blocks. \ud83d\ude04<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

On our road trip, we saw a lot of nature. Looking back, it was a really good decision to buy the car right at the beginning. We were much more mobile with it & felt a bit more independent as a result. Plus, we could blast music and cruise through the streets while admiring the scenery \ud83c\udf3f. The best part was that we could stay wherever we wanted \ud83c\udfd5. During our road trip, we met some great people & got our first job experiences (W&T Jobs: https:\/\/janetsworld3.de\/2019\/06\/14\/worktravel-jobs\/<\/a> ). Plus, a great friendship developed with Jessi, for which I am very grateful. When you spend days on end with one person, 24\/7, you get to know that person in a hundred different ways & one thing I can tell you, we sometimes really got on each other's nerves -<\/div>\n

Auf nach Australien im Jahr 2018\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2> Australien. Australien war f\u00fcr mich schon immer ein Traum gewesen. Als Kind habe ich mir immer Tierdokumentationen auf Animal Planet angesehen\ud83d\udcfa. ,,Wenn ich gro\u00df bin, werde ich auch Tierforscher\ud83d\ude0c!''<\/i>Gut, das war wohl nichts\ud83d\ude04. Aber trotzdem habe ich es bis ans andere Ende der Welt geschafft & auf meinen Abenteuern unglaubliches erleben k\u00f6nnen.Viele wissen, dass es gar nicht so einfach ist mal eben eine Reise nach Australien zu machen. Wenn du Gl\u00fcck hast, bekommst du vielleicht h\u00f6chstens 3 Wochen Urlaub am St\u00fcck\ud83d\ude12. Das ist doch Mist, oder? Aber so ist irgendwie das Leben & du musst dich halt damit abfinden. N\u00d6. Muss ich nicht! Ein Traum sollte auch irgendwann mal in Erf\u00fcllung gehen & warum diesen dann nicht auch noch sooo richtig ausnutzen\ud83e\udd14? Nachdem ich 1000 verschiedene M\u00f6glichkeiten durchgegangen bin, & mir 1000 YouTube Videos, von irgendwelchen Reisenden, angeschaut habe - entschied ich mich schlie\u00dflich ein Work & Travel zu machen. Na ja, auf jeden Fall war diese Entscheidung eine der Besten & stellt mein Leben bis heute v\u00f6llig auf den Kopf.  \ud83d\ude43

Unser erster Stopp war Melbourne. Eine Sache vermisse ich wirklich nicht und das ist der Jetlag\u2620\ufe0f! Wir hatten diesmal echte Probleme Abends einzuschlafen, aber man soll ja immer das Beste daraus machen. Deshalb haben wir uns gleich mal ein Sekt'chen & ein paar Bierchen gekauft. Nat\u00fcrlich haben wir das nicht verbotenerweise im Hostel Zimmer getrunken. Oder doch?\ud83d\ude02

Melbourne\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2> Melbourne geh\u00f6rt zu den gr\u00f6\u00dften St\u00e4dten Australiens und ist die Hauptstadt des Bundesstaates Victoria. Wir waren im Vorort St. Kilda und schauten uns dort den St. Kilda Botanical Garden & einige Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten, wie den Luna Park an. Apollo - Unser Flitzer\ud83d\ude99\ud83d\udd25<\/h2> Bereits nach einer Woche entschieden wir uns dazu, ein Auto zu kaufen\ud83d\ude4c.  Unseren Apollo bekamen wir zu einem wahnsinnig guten Preis und zahlten nur 4200 Dollar ( damals rund 2600 Euro). Wir hatten ein bisschen Gl\u00fcck, weil die Verk\u00e4ufer Backpacker waren, die am n\u00e4chsten Tag bereits nach Thailand fliegen mussten.\ud83c\udf40Ein absolut tolles Auto... Es hatte wirklich alles, was das Backpacker-Herz begehrt. Es war ein Rooftop tent oben drauf, wir hatten gen\u00fcgend Platz f\u00fcr unseren ganzen Kram, eine Menge Campingzubeh\u00f6r & falls wir mal zu faul waren das Zelt aufzuklappen, gab es sogar die M\u00f6glichkeit im Auto zu schlafen. Heute trauere ich immer noch, um unseren sch\u00f6nen Apollo... \ud83d\ude22 Dazu sp\u00e4ter mehr...\ud83d\ude2a\n[gallery columns=\"2\" ids=\"2048,2049\"]\n

Roadtrip\ud83d\ude0e\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2> Wir fackelten nicht lange & machten unser Auto startklar. Die Anmeldung des Autos verlief schnell & problemlos. Danach fuhren wir die Great Ocean Road entlang. Eines meiner Lieblings-Strecken in Australien und wirklich zu empfehlen!!\u2764\ufe0f Bei den 12 Aposteln flogen wir fast weg, so windig war es \ud83d\ude04 & auf dem Parkplatz sahen wir einen Fuchs\ud83e\udd8a Das war cool!\n[gallery columns=\"2\" ids=\"2063,2062\"]\n

Apollo Bay\ud83d\ude0e\u2600\ufe0f<\/h2> Diesen Ort musst du einfach gesehen haben! \ud83d\ude0d So ein Baby-blaues Wasser habe ich noch nie, nie, nie vorher gesehen!!!\ud83e\udd29\ud83d\udca6 In Apollo Bay haben wir Freunde gefunden & sogar unseren ersten Job angefangen, als Reinigungskraft. Unsere Aufgabe war es die W\u00e4sche zu waschen, zu b\u00fcgeln & die Zimmer zu reinigen. Was ein harter Job! Glaub mir! Jeder, der nicht einmal als richtige Reinigungskraft gearbeitet hat, kann sich das wohl kaum vorstellen. Bereits nach 4 Tagen waren meine Fingern\u00e4gel ungef\u00e4hr 4 Mal gespalten. Alles tat mir weh. Mein R\u00fccken... Meine H\u00e4nde... Furchtbar! \ud83d\ude29 Als w\u00e4re das nicht genug gewesen, hatten wir auch noch einen echt sonderbaren Chef. Der mochte es n\u00e4mlich gerne jemanden an die Hand zu nehmen, wenn er etwas zeigen wollte. Okay?? Zudem wollte er sogar noch fr\u00f6hlich eingeharkt \u00fcber den Platz hopsen. Nie vergessen werden wir die schrille Stimme, wenn er zur Pausenzeit rief: ,, It's Tea - Time''. Gut, es war also Zeit zu gehen. \ud83d\ude01 Definitiv. Aber eines haben wir gelernt: Reinigungskr\u00e4fte haben wirklich Respekt verdient (und Trinkgeld \ud83d\ude05)! 
\n[gallery columns=\"2\" ids=\"2075,2076\"]\nBis auf einen umgekippten Baum auf der Stra\u00dfe hatten wir auf unserer Fahrt nie wirkliche Probleme. Upsii, doch das habe ich fast vergessen\ud83d\ude33. Als wir losfuhren und gerade erst ca. eine 1 Stunde unterwegs waren, sprang auf einmal ein K\u00e4nguru aus dem Geb\u00fcsch - mitten aufs Auto!\ud83d\ude22 ,,Das f\u00e4ngt ja gut an'', dachte ich mir zu diesem Zeitpunkt. Mein Herz klopfte wie verr\u00fcckt\ud83d\ude27. Ein Gl\u00fcck fuhr ich nicht allzu schnell ( ca. 50 kmh ) & das s\u00fc\u00dfe K\u00e4nguru \u00fcberlebte den Aufprall. Zun\u00e4chst lag es kurz auf dem Boden, aber als wir ausstiegen, hoppelte es in die Weiten. \ud83e\udd98 Du kannst Dir jetzt sicher vorstellen, wie Schiss ich hatte, dass noch eins aus dem Geb\u00fcsch springen k\u00f6nnte. Und ja... meine \u00c4ngste hatten sich best\u00e4tigt. Es blieb nicht das einzige K\u00e4nguru, dass unsere Wege kreuzte. Gut zu wissen: K\u00e4ngurus sind wirklich \u00fcberall & springen gerne mal \u00fcber die Stra\u00dfen! <\/i>Manche Backpacker erz\u00e4hlten mir, dass sie auf ihren Reisen nicht ein Einziges gesehen haben. Wie geht das? Das frage ich mich bis heute... \ud83d\ude04 Wahrscheinlich waren sie zu oft im Bann der Gro\u00dfst\u00e4dte gefangen. Achso, wenn du in Apollo Bay bist - Vergiss nicht den Eukalyptuswald anzusehen!! Dort siehst du n\u00e4mlich gaaanz viele Koalas\ud83d\udc28. Beim Mittagessen hing mal eins 2 Meter \u00fcber uns an einem Baum.\ud83c\udf33  Unglaublich...

In Richtung Adelaide\ud83d\ude99<\/h2> Auf dem Weg nach Adelaide sahen wir wundersch\u00f6ne, menschenleere Str\u00e4nde\ud83c\udfd6. Der Sand sah einige Male aus wie Puderzucker und manchmal war er tiefschwarz. Das Meer war wieder mal Baby-blau. Genau so habe ich mir immer die Str\u00e4nde in Australien vorgestellt! Und glaube mir - ich wurde schon \u00f6fter entt\u00e4uscht! Auf den Google Bildern sieht fast immer alles viel bezaubernder aus, als in der Realit\u00e4t. Aber eins kann ich sagen: In Australien & Neuseeland ist es in Wirklichkeit noch sch\u00f6ner! \ud83e\udd70<\/b>\n[gallery columns=\"2\" ids=\"2064,2065\"]\nAuch toll war unser Ausflug nach Admirals Arch. Dort konnten wir Seel\u00f6wen in freier Wildbahn sehen. Einfach Genial!! \ud83d\ude0d\ud83e\uddad
\n[gallery columns=\"1\" ids=\"2069\"]\nWeiter ging es f\u00fcr uns nach Warnambool, wo wir das erste Mal am Strand lang ritten. Wir konnten hier mit unserem Auto bei einem Hostel im Garten stehen & mussten nur die H\u00e4lfte bezahlen.\ud83e\udd11An einem anderen Tag besuchten wir den Grampians Nationalpark ( nur zu empfehlen! ) & machten dort eine sch\u00f6ne Wanderung.\ud83e\udd7e\u2764\ufe0f

Der letzte Stopp \ud83d\udc27<\/h2> Ebenfalls ein Highlight waren die Hot Springs in Mornington Peninsula\u2668! Die hei\u00dfen Quellen liegen mitten in der Natur \ud83c\udf3f& ein Becken war sogar oben auf dem Berg, mit einer wahnsinnig tollen Aussicht! Als wir weiter fuhren, nach Phillip Island, sahen wir das erste Mal eine Pinguin-Parade\ud83d\udc27. Insgesamt spazierten 1904 kleine Pinguine vom Meer aus in ihre Nester. Es war suuuper niedlich\ud83d\ude0d. Die Pinguine laufen n\u00e4mlich hintereinander und dabei f\u00e4llt immer mal wieder eins um. Du kannst es dir nun ein bisschen, wie fr\u00fcher bei den Domino Bausteinen vorstellen.\ud83d\ude04\ud83c\udc41\n[gallery columns=\"2\" ids=\"2042,2074\"]\n

Mein Fazit:<\/h2>   Auf unserem Roadtrip haben wir viel von der Natur gesehen. R\u00fcckblickend war es eine wirklich gute Entscheidung das Auto direkt am Anfang zu kaufen. Wir waren damit einfach viel mobiler & f\u00fchlten uns dadurch noch ein St\u00fcckchen unabh\u00e4ngiger. Au\u00dferdem konnten wir mit lauter Musik durch die Stra\u00dfen d\u00fcsen & dabei die Landschaft bewundern\ud83c\udf3f. Am Besten fand ich, dass wir bleiben konnten, wo immer wir wollten\ud83c\udfd5. Auf unserem Roadtrip lernten wir einige tolle Menschen kennen & machten unsere ersten Job Erfahrungen ( W&T Jobs: https:\/\/janetsworld3.de\/2019\/06\/14\/worktravel-jobs\/<\/a> ). Au\u00dferdem entwickelte sich eine tolle Freundschaft mit Jessi , wor\u00fcber ich sehr dankbar bin. Wenn du mit einer Person tagelang 24\/7 verbringst, lernst du diese Person auf hundert verschiedenen Arten kennen & eins kann ich dir sagen, wir haben uns manchmal ganz sch\u00f6n genervt- aber wenn ich jmd. vertrauen kann- dann ist es Jessi.\ud83d\ude4f Bei solch einer Reise kommen Dinge auf dich zu, die kannst du nicht planen. Du hast st\u00e4ndig neue Herausforderungen, die dich irremachen k\u00f6nnen. Aber Hey, so wird das Leben nicht langweilig & bleibt immer spannend!
