With broad grins on our faces and in incredibly good spirits, we set off in our campervan towards freedom. (Image: Freedom sign). Naturally, we belted out the silliest classics like "Eisgekühlter Bommerlunder" and the most bizarre rap songs in the van. We owe our euphoric state, without any drugs, to fulfilling our dream of traveling the world. At this point, I have to include a quote that reminds me of my indescribable trip almost two years ago with my good friend Jessica: "The plan begins without a plan." And that's exactly how it is. Without any time limit or knowing where we'll be next week, we begin our great adventure.
Oker Dam & Hahnenklee
Our first stop was the Oker Dam near Altenau in the Harz Mountains, in the Goslar district. Thanks to the beautiful weather, we went for a spin on our inline skates, and unfortunately, we also passed by the restaurant "Der Windbeutel König" (The Cream Puff King). There, we encountered the current restrictions due to Covid-19. The restaurant remained closed and did not offer delivery. However, the sunset and the incredible view from the dam provided us with the necessary consolation.
Kassel – Wilhelmshöhe Mountain Park
With the current "typical April weather," we set off for Kassel. At Max's request, I'll describe the weather in a bit more detail: By typical April weather, I mean a snowstorm interspersed with bright sunshine and a cold wind.
The museum, accessible via hundreds of steps, Löwenburg Castle and the palace were just some of the many highlights of the beautiful park near the city center.
